Fannie Vance was born in Lower Post, BC and is a member of the Wolf Clan. fanny01.jpg

Fannie was raised with traditional values and skills and it has provided her with the knowledge she needs to live off the land. Fanny is a strong activist for the safety and well-being of children.  She is a foster mom to three children and has also raised five beautiful children.  Fanny loves to cook and is often called upon for different gatherings.

Fannie has previously worked as a Cultural Director for Liard Aboriginal Women’s Society and as a Drug and Alcohol Worker for Daylu Dena Council.  She is very respected and valued in her community for being the teacher that  she is by offering guidance and prayer  to anyone in need.  Fannie’s faith in God has gotten her through many challenges and she believes strongly in the power of prayer.

A change Fannie would like to see for her Kaska homeland is for the violence against women and children to end.  She would also like to ensure that the children are loved and nurtured and protected from an environment that would otherwise prove toxic.  For decades Fannie has been an advocate to protect children in Kaska communities and ensure that Kaska children are raised in Kaska homes.

Liard Aboriginal Women’s Society is pleased to have had Fanny as a board member since 2005.
